6. INVESTMENT OPPORTUNITIES
6.1 ACCOMMODATION ON SITE
Today, most golfers who wish to spend more days at Skjoldenæsholm playing golf, get accommodated in the nearby castle. However, the castle has only upper price range rooms to offer in a historic style. Because of this, there is certainly an opportunity for the golf resort to offer a modern, contemporary and affordable accommodation, which could provide a comfortable stay for many more golfers. This way, the golf resort could add one more attractive feature to the list of facilities, with a possibility of increasing the turnover by DKK 7.5 mil. (EUR 1,1 mil.) every year.
A possibility of accommodation at Skjoldenæsholm would be an important economic component. Direct impact includes all projected revenues that would be generated from guests at the new accommodation. This can include all rooms revenues, increase of pro ts in the restaurant and bar, organizing events, increase of sales at the golf Pro Shop, as well as other potential reve- nue sources such as new indoor facilities.
6.2 DESCRIPTION OF ACCOMMODATION FACILITIES
The local authorities have primarily accepted four areas which can be built on: Area 1 – 5.000 m2 (1,23 ac) Area 2 – 12.000 m2 (2,97 ac) Area 3 – 2.000 m2 (0,49 ac) Area 4 – 7.000 m2 (1.73 ac)
Total size of the area that can be built on: 2.6 ha (26,000 m2/ 6,42 ac).
According to the drawings (appendix 1), it would be possible to build up to 4,000 m2 (0,99 ac). The built area could be increased based on a different layout.
These areas can be seen illustrated on the map and are highlighted with blue colour. More than 50 self-catered appartments can be estabilished in these four areas. Alternatively, this accommodation could be estabilished as a hotel.
