3. GOLF COURSES
Besides the two attractive 18-hole golfcourses, Skjoldenæsholm Golf Resort also has a driving range, putting greens, short game area with bunkers and a 9-hole par 3 course.
3.1 ROBERT TRENT JONES JR. COURSE
Robert Trent Jones Jr. Course was opened in 2007 with the opening of the rst nine holes in the autumn of 2006. The following year the last nine holes were opened and thus formed the popular 18-hole championship course. Robert Trent Jones Jr. is known for designing courses that always give an option to challenge the player´s skills. Robert Trent Jones Jr. Course soon became a high-class 18-hole course suitable for professionals and more experienced golfers.
3.2 OLD COURSE
Skjoldenæsholm Old Course, which opened in 1992, was designed by a Dan- ish golf course architect Otto Boyesen. The course is a long and hilly par 71 course, situated in a beautiful landscape in the north of Ringsted and Harald- sted lake. The course starts in front of Skjoldenæsholm Castle. The rst three holes are in an open landscape, after which it follows closer to the woods and around a spectacular King’s lake. After hole 9, it goes back to the beautiful and mostly hilly landscape to end with hole number 18, located at the lake right
in front of the Skjoldenæsholm Castle again. The 18-hole course ts perfectly into the beautifully pure nature environment, which makes it unique and dif- ferent. There are both narrow and wide fairways and greens which are placed both up and down all around the hills. Therefore, Old Course can enable golfers to challenge their skills and at the same time to relax their minds while enjoying a perfect round of golf.
