Ministry of Public Health, Bangkok, Thailand.
Background: Clinical outcomes in the treatment of LS have been continually
studied in different procedures of convention, navigation-assisted and mini-
open technique. However, which technique providing the better outcomes is in
dispute.
Objective: To compare the peri- and postoperative outcomes of different
surgical treatments of patients diagnosed with LS nonresponsive to
conservative method.
Methods: A prospective cohort study of 60 patients was conducted according
to LS undergoing conventional TPSF or navigation-assisted TPSF or mini-open
TPSF with a 12-month follow up period. This study obtained the data from
Prasat Neurological Institute in 2010. Comparatively, pre-op and postoperative
neurological status, pain and functional outcomes were estimated using
Macnab. Further outcomes were additinally evaluated in duration of
procedure, estimated blood loss (EBL) and time of hospital stay. Statistical
analysis with a P- value was carried out.
