5. Give the children pots of words to sort into male and female sets. Talk about proper
names needing capital letters, eg Mr Green, Miss Jones.
6. Mix the words together to signify that God wants us all to work together, whether we
are boys or girls, mums or dads, etc.
7. Let the children either write about the different things their parents like to do, eg
mending the car, arranging flowers. They could alternatively write about the toys
boys often like and the ones girls often like. Stress that we all like to play with each
others’ toys sometimes just like men and women like to share different tasks in the
home.
Some may find it preferable to use one or more of the worksheets over the three
weeks. Some children may like to make lists of jobs and conduct a simple survey of
jobs men and women like the best, eg washing the car, gardening, cooking.
Mums, Dads, and / or grandparents could be invited in to talk about tasks they
prefer and how they work with their spouse in various ways.
8. End the lessons by thanking God for the way in which he created us male and
female, and that we belong to a worldwide family with God as our Father.
Learning for Life (Fulfilment)
1. The children should have a greater understanding of God’s purpose in creating men
and women to compliment each other.
2. They should be able to distinguish male and female words.
