Business Case Example
FLACS
Value proposition
Iris registration saves time in the FLACS procedure while enhancing patient outcome by increasing accuracy of AI and toric IOL placement.
The time saved in the OR is valued in terms of additional revenues by increasing the treatment capacity of the clinic’s exisiting assets.

Yuri McKee, Ophthalmology Management, January 1, 2020
“Take, for example, the placement of a toric IOL. Prior to FLACS, I had to mark the patient’s cornea
in an upright position prior to any sedation being given. The marking device required sterilization between each patient. The logistical effort to coordinate multiple toric IOL placements in one day was sometimes monumental. With iris registration and capsular marking done by the femtosecond laser,
I now need no additional consideration for the surgical flow of a patient receiving a toric IOL. No pre-operative marking, no changing the flow for the anesthesiologist or fading or smearing corneal ink marks are involved.”
