corporate expenses in the books. These are phantom reimbursements to consulting
firms which are brought in to clean up the mess created by incompetent employees
hired to perform tasks they are incapable of executing.

Fortunately, today's workers are more educated and savvy than workers in
the "good old days." Employees now know any worker can be dismissed for any
reason (without 'just cause' for termination), and without warning. It's termed, "at-
will employment." Ironically, such rules are helping unemployed workers to

overcome the stigma and even goes on to inspire unemployed workers to simply
chuck it up, carry their head up high, and reinvent their skill set(s) for the next

candidates. For example, during the Thanksgiving holiday, I had the opportunity to
chauffeur an HR Director with a firm in the Buckhead district of Atlanta. During our
conversation, she lamented how difficult it is to fill vacancies because most of the
candidates -- in her own words -- had "no comparable qualification" outlined as the

minimum requirements for the position. Their hands are tied when some executive,
higher up, places a phone call they'd want their candidate hired for a vacant position
-- knowing fully well -- their candidate does not meet the minimum qualifications

           outlined by the hiring manager.

The problem is hiring managers are livid at the folks in HR department, and
wonder if "those" in HR know what they are doing. Also, there is the problem of
mistrust between the HR managers and hiring managers who have had to do their
