The second Workshop “Transfusion Science
and Haemostasis/Coagulation Testing” was attended by Fellows of the Faculty of Science, Haematology and Anatomical Pathology Fellows and Haematology, General Pathology and Genetic Pathology Trainees from Australia and NZ. The Workshop covered Paediatric and Perinatal Testing in the Transfusion Laboratory, Red Cell Genotyping, Diagnosis of von Willebrand Disease, the Lupus Anticoagulant, pre-analytics in the Haemostasis/ Coagulation Laboratory and case studies in Coagulation.
The RCPA NZ ASM 2016 ‘Naturally Napier’ went very well with 120 delegates in attendance.
A diverse range of specialties were covered including lymphoid pathology with Dr
Dominic Spagnolo and Dr Graeme Taylor, respiratory pathology with Dr Annabelle Mahar, cytopathology with Dr Felicity Frost, bone and soft tissue pathology with Dr Fiona Bonar, Dr Pennie Symmans and Dr Carina Miles, liver pathology with Dr Mee Ling Yeong and uropathology with Prof James Kench. There was also an update
from the NZ National Cervical Pathology Training Service including Dr Bryan Knight.
