TRENDS IN SURGICAL PATHOLOGY
Concord, New South Wales
The annual NSW Trends in Surgical Pathology lecture was held on Wednesday 2 November 2016. This complimentary meeting convened by Dr Louise Hughes was held at the Medical Education Centre at the Concord Hospital, Hospital Road Concord.
INFORMATICS SEMINAR
RCPA, Surry Hills, NSW
The RCPA Pathology Informatics seminar convened by Dr Michael Legg provided the 65 keen registrants with a unique opportunity to learn key elements of informatics in regard to the pathology profession, from 15 highly experienced informaticians, including international speaker, Professor Ulysses Balis.
SHORT COURSE IN ADULT AND FOETAL GROSS PATHOLOGY
Hobart, Tasmania
The course aimed to demonstrate to trainees the importance of the hospital autopsy, the reasons for its decline and to expose them to the extensive range of gross pathology that is not seen at the cut-up bench. An overview of both foetal and adult autopsy technique was provided by speakers including Dr John McArdle, Dr Susan Arbuckle and A/Prof David Challis. The meeting was convened by Dr Eileen Long and kindly supported by Federal Government funding through the “Training more Specialist Doctors in Tasmania” initiative and the RCPA.
MANAGEMENT IN PATHOLOGY
RCPA, Surry Hills, NSW
Aimed at pathologists, trainees and scientists who are taking on, or interested in, a management role. The course was designed and tailored to give insight into various aspects of managing a laboratory. It was a very successful day bringing together much sought after speakers who are experts in their elds.
St John of God Pathology WA, supported by the College presented the second biennial “Spring Into Subi” course in diagnostic pathology. The two-day course on diagnostic pathology focused on liver and gastrointestinal pathology. It included lectures and slide-based case discussions and featured local speakers and special guest, Professor John Hart from the University of Chicago Medical Center (USA).
