                                                                                TRIPLES



                                                                             Once  again  East  Hanningfield
                                                                             SMBC  arranged  their  annual
                                                                             Charity Triples to raise money
                                                                             for the worthy cause “Hearing
                                                                             Dogs for Deaf People”.
                                                                                   Twenty teams lined up to
                                                                             try & win the charity trophy & in
                    Triples winners Paul Bax, Rachel Cordy                   the process helped to raise £625
                               and Steve Killington                          for the dog’s charity.
                                                                                  The  teams  that  entered
              consisted of sixteen teams from Essex & four who travelled from London & Kent.
                    The day got off to a flyer for the triple from East Tilbury who started the day with two
              wins of 12-2 & 11-3, but they could only manage 1 point from their remaining two games in
              group C, in the same group one of the home club teams Horseshoes won their first game
              11-2 then lost their next game by the same score but came storming back in their next games
              to win 7-2 & 14-3 to win the group with East Tilbury grabbing 2nd  place.
                    In group A Burham from Kent came first with six points winning their final two games
              13-3 & 13-2 with Warren Heath coming in second on shot difference from their nearest ri-
              vals.
                    Group B finished very close
              with 3 teams tied on 6 points each
              but the other home team Windmills
              coming  out  on  top  with  plus  14
              shots  with  O.C.B.C  finishing  2nd
              with plus   of 8 shots.
                    In  group  D  the  finish  was
              even  closer  with  Ramsden  Bell-
              house & Stonyhill Greys going into
              the last game against each other
              on  6  points  apiece  but  even  the
              game could not produce a winner
              as  they  drew  7-7  which  meant             Triples runners-up Rita Blackhall, Tom &
              Ramsden went through as winners            Tony Ealham with Club Chairman Paul Cairns.
              with a plus 14 shots compared to
              Stonyhill’s plus of 13 shots.
                    In the quarter finals East Tilbury beat Burham 10-7, Stonyhill Greys beat Windmills 6-
              4 after being 1-4 down, Horseshoes saw off Warren Heath 6-4 & Ramsden beat O.C.B.C 9
              -6. The Semi-finals saw Horseshoes beat Stonyhill Greys skipped by Chris Coates by 8 shots
              to 5, while in the other semi Ramsden Bellhouse beat East Tilbury skipped by Pauline Childs
              9 – 5.
                    In the final the Horseshoes which consisted of Rachel Cordy, Steve Killington & skip
              Paul Bax took a 2 on the first end but Ramsden skipped by Tony Ealham along with Rita
              Blackhall & Tom Ealham came back with a 2 on the next end. It was nip & tuck all the way
              through to the 8th & final end with only singles being scored which left a final score of 5-5.
