Ipswich and drawing with Willow Park A. Sanguine Jnr were runners-up by beating Willow
Park A and Sanguine, drawing with Ipswich and losing to Gulls. Ipswich were unlucky to 11
miss runner up by one point, having beaten Sanguine and drawn with Sanguine Jnr. Willow
Park A had some close games but only managed a draw with Sanguine, who also had one of
those days.
In the Quarter Finals Willow Park B beat Wickford, Ramsden Bellhouse A beat Outwood
Common B, Stonyhill A beat Sanguine Jnr and Tilbury A beat Gulls A. The semi-final proved to
be a bit of an upset with Ramsden Bellhouse beating Stonyhill in a tight game and Willow Park
B pulling off a big win against Tilbury A. The Final was a good, close game with Ramsden Bell-
house winning 5 of the nine ends and with a shot score of 12 - 9 to beat Willow Park B.

NORTHAMPTONSHIRE NEWS
As it is Northamptonshire Short
Mat Bowls Association’s 30th
Anniversary this year, we de-
cided that we would like to cel-
ebrate this by giving something
back to our membership of
NSMBA, after a lot of conver-
sations about what we should do to celebrate, it was
our 12 year old player Alex Roberts, who came up
with the idea of playing a random with prize money
and other events during the day (plus a free lunch).
All monies collected from the raffle, spiders
web and grid will be donated to Air Ambulance as
Tournament winners
this was Alex’s initial thoughts of who he wished the Tournament winners
Brian Nelson, Sarah Watts,
money to go to, after seeing the Air Ambulance save Brian Nelson, Sarah Watts,
Alex Roberts, Bob Clarridge and
someone’s life right near to where he lives. Alex Roberts, Bob Clarridge and
the Air Ambulance representative
He talked to the Chairwoman Suzanne Gunter the Air Ambulance representative
and had said that it was all his own idea, and after
speaking to his parents it was clear that he had shut himself in his bedroom and written a plan
for the day. He comes from a third generation of bowlers, himself, dad and grandad.
His idea was discussed with the NSMBA Committee and it was straight away accepted with a
few tweaks. We hope everyone had a great day. From
the feedback that I have received it looks like everyone
had a great day.
As this event was a success, Alex is hopeful that
he can carry on with this competition next year, and
maybe put it out to the rest of the counties (no free
lunch I’m afraid).
We are so proud of our youngest member of our
county, especially for getting involved in the running of
such a large competition. Well done Alex.
We managed to raise £575.00 for Northampton-
shire Air Ambulance. Thank you to Daventry Indoor
Bowls Club for donating £50.00, Simon Briggs for
£25.00, Kevin Roberts for £25.00, and of course all the
3 generations
