WHAT WE ORGANISE
WHAT WE ORGANISE
ON YOUR HOLIDAY
ON YOUR HOLIDAY
Our holidays are specifically aimed at club bowlers.
There are of course some very good club bowlers
and some not quite so good. We start play in round
robin groups thus maximising the number of games
you get.
We organise two types of holiday 1) Short Mat Holiday Tournaments and 2) Bowls
Tours. Our tournament holidays run from Monday's to Friday’s but tours can be run over
any period where we can find free dates. We have been organising Short Mat holidays since
1994 and we have taken over 15,000 bowlers on holiday with us. Our holidays are mainly
half board e.g. bed, breakfast and evening dinner. The only exception is Potters, which is
full board and includes a midday meal and usually a late supper.
SHORT MAT HOLIDAY TOURNAMENTS
SHORT MAT HOLIDAY TOURNAMENTS
Our holidays are bowls holidays rather than just holidays with bowls but we organise in such
a way that you can take time off if you wish. We run three competitions on each holiday.
From Monday afternoon until Wednesday afternoon we have a Pairs tournament, starting
on a round robin league basis. For solo players or an odd number in a group we can match
players up with other bowlers to ensure you get their full run of games.
When you arrive at your chosen venue and book in at the competition desk, you will
be issued with the scorecards for each of your pairs games. On each card will be listed your
mat number, the time of your game and the names of your opponents. We do not organise
timed games with whistle blowing etc., so no-one is under any pressure to complete by a
certain time. Everyone plays the same number of ends, usually 10 in the Pairs.
On Tuesday and Wednesday evening we organise an after dinner two bowl Singles
tournament for the very keen, again starting on a round robin basis, usually in groups of 3
or sometimes 4. This event is played to a conclusion on Wednesday evening and entries
are taken on the Tuesday of your holiday. On Thursday we have a one-day Triples event,
starting on a round robin league basis usually in groups of 3 or 4.
Our Triples and Pairs finals are played off on Friday morning. This is followed by a
short presentation ceremony where we present personalised plaques to the winners and
runners-up, as well as some prize money. We have always paid out prize money but we
never advertise it.
You can enter any, all or none of the events as you choose. E.g. not entering the
Triples gives the option of a complete day off and if you don’t want any evening bowling
you can leave out the singles event. The Pairs and Triples teams we need to know in ad-
vance as we have to plan each tournament and print the scorecards etc. but the triples need
only be re-confirmed on the day of your arrival.
CLUB TOURS
CLUB TOURS
As these are private events individual to each club, the dates are not published in our cal-
endar as you choose your dates. A tour is when you arrive as a club to one of our venues
and we arrange matches in your hotel with local clubs and players. Hotels can be very busy
at weekends and dates are sometimes difficult to get but not impossible. Midweek dates
are usually OK.
YOUR MONEY IS FULLY SAFEGUARDED
YOUR MONEY IS FULLY SAFEGUARDED
We operate under the “Package Travel Regulations” as required by UK and EC legislation,
and your holiday money is fully protected. We also offer inexpensive illness cancellation
cover, which covers a medical circumstance that prevents you attending your holiday or
tour. Our illness cancellation cover is open to all, regardless of age and no matter what pre-
existing conditions you may have and we ask no medical questions whatsoever.
