In the final, the Skewen Triple soon 33
established a winning lead, but the
Templecombe Pair did the same, so
the result depended on the Singles.
Welsh international Luke Had-
don put ex-England international
Alan Berry under pressure from the
start but Alan put up a dogged fight
and the score remained close.
However, Luke won the last two
ends for a 9-5 victory giving
Skewen the trophy for the first time.
Open Triples finalists Woodbury,
Cerne Abbas Triples Alan Shere, Janet and Arthur Cuff
Six teams from Devon including
the holders, West Hill, five from Somerset and one from Dorset, played four games
each, the winner being the team with the most points. Yeovil and District League Di-
vision 2 Champions, Hadspen, played consistently well all day and so deservedly
won the competition with a maximum 8 points. Woodbury from Devon were clear run-
ners-up with 6 points.
