A second half win for team captain Janet Pinchen, playing with Bob McPherson & George 5
Clarke, clinched a 12-2 points win and the long awaited title success. Thorpe Marriott had
previously finished in second place five times in the City of Norwich League. Their only previous
winter league success was in 1994 finishing as champions in the now defunct Wensum League.

Bob Carter’s 4-0 home win against Connaught confirmed them as the new Tens League champi-
ons ahead of last year’s winners Hempnall. In a league where total shots decide the league points
Bob Carter were already out of sight of their visitors from Attleborough by the half way stage as
Jason Woods & Simon Willies stormed to a 38-2 win against former county players Diana & Bill
Adcock while Nigel Willard, Rob Howlett & John Turner added a 20-5 win against David Flatt’s
           triple.
In the second half Jamie Forster & Gary Best piled on the agony with a 21-5 win against
Elaine & Bob Oatway but Mike Smail, Mike Minshull & Joe LiRocchi did well to beat Melvin Woods’
Carter triple 13-12 but by then the maximum four points, and the league title, were safely in Bob
           Carter’s hands.

                                                           EQUIPMENT WANTED
I am constantly being asked by people about secondhand mats
and bowls etc. If you have a decent one (or more) you can ad-
vertise for free in the magazine I will also keep a contact list if
you just phone me and I will put you in touch with each other,
                                               as this is
                                               q u i c k e r
                                               than wait-
                                               ing for
                                               e a c h
magazine to come out. No rubbish or unre-
alistic prices please, let’s all be sensible
           please.
The value of second-hand mats drops
dramatically from new, so you have to be re-
alistic, which some people are not and I have
seen some silly prices asked, which no-one
           was prepared to pay.
DONATION - there are also new clubs
starting with little or no funds whatsoever and
wish to try short mat bowls.
It is in all our interests to encourage
new clubs, so if you have a mat or any other
equipment you just wish to donate because
of its age, condition or whatever - just give
me a call and talk to me please..
