The singles was won by Wonford’s 9
James Smith who won 9-4 against Gra-
ham James. The second game to finish was
the pairs with Yarnscombe winning it 10-7.
The Triples was dominated by Wonford and
they won 13-5.
The results of the three disciplines
meant that Yarnscombe had to win the
Fours and overturn 10 shots. This proved to
be fruitless after 9 ends with the scores
locked at 7-7 and Yarnscombe conceded
the game knowing they could not win
and Wonford retained the title.

ISCA hosted the Brian Medland mixed
fours which saw 19 teams fighting for
the title. The day saw some entertaining
bowls and the final was contested be-
tween Winkleigh and Bow.
Winkleigh, skipped by Lorraine Ax-
tell raced into a 6-0 lead, however Bow
skipped by Nick Wyatt did fight back and after six ends the score was 6-6. It was nip and tuck
and going to the last end the score was 9-8 to Bow but Winkleigh snatched victory by picking
up a three and winning 11-9.

An incredible weekend of bowling
took place at Chobham Heath Short Mat Bowls Club in Surrey. 96 bowlers from seven counties
laughed, lunched and bowled their way to a huge fund-raising total for a local children's hos-
pice.
Superbly organised by Jennie Stubbs and members of Chobham, the weekend Open
Fours tournament, which is now in its 25th year, saw bowlers from Hampshire, Dorset, London,
Kent, Essex, Hertfordshire and Surrey put any rivalries to one side and come together in aid
of Naomi House, part of the Wessex Children's Hospice Trust - a charity which supports chil-
dren and young adults with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions in Southern England.
Alongside raffles and other fund-raising activities, the fours tournament was played
across the weekend of 2nd and 3rd September in a friendly, yet competitive atmosphere with
hybrid Hampshire/Surrey rinks winning on both days. With hot and cold refreshments and a
hot lunch provided on both days, all bowlers were well catered for. Most importantly, a mag-
nificent total of £2,050.00 was raised for a great cause.
If you would like details and information about next year's Open Fours Tournament,
where places are already being snapped up, please contact Jennie Stubbs on 01932 872139.
The dates for your diary are 1st and 2nd September 2018 and we would love to see bowling
friends, new and old, joining in the fun".
