C Plaice (Walpole Highway) winning all games finishing on 10 points +32 shots. The
club chairman said ‘a big thank you to everyone involved in helping on the day and to the
support of the bowlers who once again made the Chloe Shield a success’.
A message on the day was received from Anthony Nolan’s Community Fundraiser Beat-
rix Passmore and read; ‘I want to start by saying a huge thank you for choosing to support
Anthony Nolan today, and for raising money for our life saving cause. I’m really sorry that I
couldn’t be with you today to thank you in person, but I wanted to make sure that you all know
how much we value and appreciate your generous support.’
This competition has raised a fantastic amount of valuable funds for a number of charities
over the years and the club look forward to holding the event for many more years to come
helping to save lives along the way.

It is with great sadness to hear of the passing of Irene Smith. Irene who will be
known throughout the Count and beyond. She was the previous County Secre-
tary and was a member of the County Squad for many years. A private family
funeral was held, no flowers are requested but donations to Hospicare in mem-
orandum of Irene Smith. (Ed - it was with great sadness that I heard of Irene’s

passing. She carried out a huge amount of work for Devon over a period of about
30 years since I first met her and she will be sorely missed.)

                                     County Team Championship
The 6 clubs that qualified for the County Team Championship final descended on ISCA. The
six teams were split into groups of three with the winners of each group contesting the final.
The winners of the first group was Yarnscombe and they faced Wonford, who won the second
group in the final. This was a repeat of last year’s final and Yarnscombe entered the game
looking to avenge their defeat last year.
