o Coordinate ATJ Developing Leadership Intern Program
o Participate in LSU Apprenticeship Week
The ATJ program participated for the first time in the 2019 LSU
Apprenticeship week with a course titled Serving the Public and
the Profession. We plan to participate again in January 2020.
o Coordinate outreach on children’s and disability law job
opportunities
Outreach to law students and public by Children’s Law and LSPD
Committees regarding work in these fields, including networking
opportunities.
Research methods to increase attorney/legal volunteerism and develop
initiatives and best practices;
Researched other states’ Emeritus rules to provide the Supreme Court
with information for the revision of the LSBA Emeritus Rule.
Relaunch the Louisiana Civil Justice Center (LCJC) to work with other
stakeholders to provide civil legal services;
Educate and increase awareness among judges and judicial staff;
o Outreach to judiciary
Participated in judicial outreach at Family, Juvenile and City
Court Judges Conference, and LSBA Annual Meeting with LDJA
past president Judge Randow,
o Host biannual Pro Bono Summit
Annualized meeting through Pro Bono track planned for 2019
LJCC.
o Create materials and trainings to educate judges and judicial
staff
Share ATJ components of strategic plan with the Supreme Court of
Louisiana and the Louisiana Bar Foundation to garner support; and
The ATJ Commission adopted the strategic plan developed in February
2019, same presented to LBF.
Continue to coordinate annual LSBA Pro Bono Awards recognition.
■ The State Bar develops alternative or additional legal resources to support
unaddressed issue or provide extra-judicial services.
Continue to facilitate the work of the Building Bridges, Modest Means
and SRL Committees, as well as the Gap Assessment Subcommittee;
o The Building Bridges Committee recently co-hosted a CLE
designed to increase access to affordable legal representation
for people returning home after incarceration.
o Building Bridges coordinated with OMV and DOC to release a
provisional driver’s license pamphlet, to be distributed to people
returning from prison statewide.
