Support to Minority Involvement Section

The Diversity Committee assists and supports the Minority Involvement Section in its activities.
The chair of the Minority Involvement is a member of the Diversity Committee’s Specialty Bars
subcommittee.

Specialty Bars Subcommittee

The Department provides assistance and support to specialty bar associations with diverse
memberships. During the term of Past President Mark A. Cunningham, he requested that each
identified specialty bar leader accept appointment to the Diversity Committee. Past President
Cunningham’s goal was to convene at least one meeting per year to engage these leaders and
identify areas that the organizations need additional assistance and support.

President Barry H. Grodsky has continued this effort.

A Specialty Bars subcommittee meeting was held on August 24, 2018 at the Ritz Carlton New
Orleans in conjunction with the LSBA Board of Governors meeting.

A Specialty Bars subcommittee meeting was held on January 19, 2019 at Stab’s Prime Steak and
Seafood in Baton Rouge, LA in conjunction with the LSBA Midyear meeting.

Specialty Bars Conference

The Specialty Bars Conference will be held on August 24, 2019 at the Ritz Carlton New Orleans.

Natchitoches Lights CLE Seminar-North LA Outreach

As outreach to North Louisiana attorneys, Chief Justice Bernette Joshua Johnson suggested that a
CLE seminar be held in conjunction with a toy drive lead by one of our LSBA members during
Christmas Festival of Lights in Natchitoches, LA.

The Natchitoches Lights CLE Seminar will be held on December 13, 2019 at the Chateau St.
Denis Hotel.

The seminar was held on December 14, 2018 at the Chateau St. Denis.

All registrants were invited to attend The Dreams Scholarship Party with a Purpose Toy Drive
held at the Historic Prudhomme-Rouquier House, 446 Jefferson Street, Natchitoches, LA at 6:30
p.m. - 12:00 a.m.
