Congratulations! This marks the end of a long struggle for you. This struggle began in
elementary school when you were selected as one of the seven Pilot Centers sponsored by the
Virginia Teachers Association. The early years of your admittance into this program, I am
sure, were fascinating and interesting to you.
This program involved working with many people including persons who are no longer on
our staff. You were a part of many new things; thereby, allowing yourselves to be exposed to
many experiments in our effort to enhance the quality of education here at our school. Many
of you followed an accelerated program, but all of this must come to an end as you complete
your high school work.
Behind all of the experimentations in which you have been involved, the real test lies a-
head ot you. You must now take the results of all the experiments and focus it on the future
so that it will aid you in charting your own course. This will not be easy because of the many
changes that have taken place during the years you were students here. Your involvement in
the Pilot Center made great progress, although this progress was made under anxiety and pro
bably momentarily you were able to forget about the ardous task of competing.
I do hope that this program here at the school provided you with some of the basic in
formation that you will need in furthering your education because the real test as to whether
or not you progressed can only be determined by you and the way you meet life in its con-
tinous challenging times.
Go your way now but do not forget that whatever measure of success, comes your way, you
must always remember those who worked and sacrificed their time and money so that this day
was made possible.
