Vasche Library is perfectly positioned to
become the academic heart of Stanislaus
State Campus. The new design will more
than double the number of study seats,
including both collaborative study areas
and quiet study carrels. The library will be
more accessible than ever, with intuitive
and welcoming resources.
Lessons Learned
1 Give careful consideration to existing
building features, such as a sculptural
board-form stair with terrazzo finish.
Instead of being demolished, we
brought it back to life.
2 Always analyze existing site access
(fire and ADA) against current code.
3 Take the time to really understand
existing drawings, the simplicity of
how buildings were documented and
built, and to learn the history of the
building, site, and area.
