Nicole Mishriky
We are as swimmers
Treading the water
My head watches and listens
As we examine
Cool white clouds
And the vastness of the sky
The rhythmic beating of my heart and thighs
As I glide through the waters as straight as a pencil
My legs go up and down, over and over
My arms go around and around like a windmill
Firm hands slice through the icy water
Lips barely rise above the surface
As I inhale crisp morning air
Blue surrounds my body
The feeling of champion
Will not be an imagination
