Choices

                                                   Mikaela Tabaranza

The early morning sky dark with barely any light

I have to get up and get ready

For a new day is here

                                                     I got choices to make

Either the same or different as yesterday

                                                     Throughout the day

I am surrounded by choices that need to be made

Debating on what I should do with my hair

What clothes I should wear or what I should eat

Do I do my homework now or later

These choices I make impact me in the near future

No matter how small or how big

No matter how silly or serious

They’ll either benefit me or add hindrances

                                                  I’m growing older and older

                                               Moving forward and not backwards

What I choose today can do one or the other; Affect me deeply or barely

I got to be careful with what I choose 28
