7.8 Secure Socket Layer

Secure Socket Layer (SSL) is the standard security technology for estab-
lishing an encrypted link between a web server and a browser. It acts as
the web server’s certification to identify that it is a trusted site to browsers/-
servers, and ensures that all data passed between the web server and
browsers remain private and integral.
