Parts of an Narrative essay
•The essay should be written in first person or third person. It start the introduction part with
some sort of quote or a statement which will grab the reader attention and reveal the point,
the true essence of the story told.
Introduction •The thesis statement needs to be in the introduction as it will give a special meaning to the
story and will help the reader to “tune in” to the author’s mind.
•Setting (It is the beginning of the plot. It gets the reader acquainted with the main characters of the
story and its main circumstances. All the details are to be very precise to make the reader involved in the
story. The reader needs to feel and see whatever the author has felt and has seen. The author does not
simply describe the story, but he actually recreates it for the reader).
Body •Climax (It is the top point of the story’s plot, a breaking point of the story. The language of the narrative
essay in general and it climax in particular needs to be very vivid. The author needs to use a lot of
literature adjectives to make the climax “alive”. The author makes a deep accent on the climax part of
the story).
•Ending (It is the end of the story’s plot. It resolves the conflict of the plot revealing the author’s message)
•Conclusion (The author does not only express his position clearly but he also proves it to the reader. The
conclusion provides the reader with the writer’s profound understanding of the plot he analyzes in the
Conclusion paragraphs above. The last line of the narrative essay is as important as its first line. So, the author may
finish with a quote or a strong statement which will make the story’s point transparent to the reader)
