University is getting too stressful? It’s time to get involved and moving! Studies
have shown that participating in extracurricular activities helps individuals enhance
personal and social development as well as academic achievement. Life for
university students could be quite rough. However, it is important to acknowledge
that there are always entertainment services offered to students on campus to help
cope with stress relief. Plenty of extracurricular and volunteer opportunities are
available around campus; as a matter of fact, the University of Waterloo serves you
with one of the most outstanding dance and sports clubs out there. School work can
indeed prevent students from becoming physically active - we all hate those three to
eight-hour long study sessions and all-nighters to catch up on assignments, right?
Engaging in recreational activities allows students to improve physical mobility and
enables them to become mentally awakened. It provides them with better time
management and organization skills, and most importantly, increases self-esteem.
Mental health is a significant focus for the students at the University of Waterloo,
which is one of the main reasons why students are encouraged to push forward and
form an identity outside their academic curriculum.
