Professor Antonio M. de Lacy Fortuny
(born February 13, 1957 in Palma de Mallor-
ca, Spain) is the Head of the Gastrointes-
tinal Surgery Department and Co-Coordi-
nator of the Colorectal Cancer Unit at the
Hospital Clínic in Barcelona. He is a Profes-
sor of Surgery at the School of Medicine
of the University of Barcelona since 2007
and the Founder of AIS Channel.
Professor Antonio Lacy graduated from
Medical School in University of Barcelona
in 1980. Later that decade, in 1987, he spe-
cialized in General Surgery in Hospital Clin-
ic de Barcelona. In the following year – 1988
– Lacy got the grade of Ph.D. in Medicine
and Surgery, his thesis being “Distal Sple-
no-Renal Anastomosis through the Retro-
peritoneum. A Study of Long-Term Haemo-
dynamic Alterations”, which was honoured
with the Excellent Cum Laude Distinction
of the University of Barcelona.
