APEX VIRTUAL HIGH SCHOOL
APEX 5 Credits
Grades 9 -12
APEX Virtual High School is a student centered online course that students experience in both the
school environment and independently at home. Students may take a full semester of courses in any
one of the various areas including the Arts, world language, language arts, life sciences,
mathematics, science, social studies, technology, and AP areas. Students will not be allowed to select
a class that is presently offered or a class that is for credit recovery. The student must maintain a
portfolio of work for the class and complete all assignments in the course syllabus. They must also
complete all time requirements for their course and confirm all activities with the school site
manager. This program is for the self-motivated student that is willing to experience an alternate
learning format.
Prerequisite: Students must be approved by the administration and site manager as well as complete
a conference with their counselor
Model-T Program/Life Skills
The Model –T Program will allow students to begin experiencing adult life activities in the
community while having the support of the school system. Where appropriate, students will
apply for work and be taught work responsibilities, participate in community-based recreational/
leisure activities, further develop independent living skills, and begin developing social
connections in the environments that the student will be using as a young adult. Model—T will
allow the student to explore options and begin trying out his/ her vision for life as a young adult.
It will also allow the student and his / her family to develop relationships with the adult service
providers who may be supporting the student in the future since these providers may be part of
the student’s Model-T planning and support team.
MONMOUTH COUNTY ARTS H.S.
Students interested in creative writing, dance, music (instrumental and vocal), photography, theater arts
and visual arts (drawing/painting) have the opportunity to audition for participation in the Monmouth
County Arts High School Program.
Gifted and talented students who are accepted into the program will be released from school to attend
three-hour Monday classes for a ten-week term from January – May. A grade of honors, good, pass or
fail is based upon successful completion of one course of study. Students who pass their course of
study are awarded certificates of achievement or honors certificates. Various courses may be eligible
for college credit through Brookdale Community College. See Monmouth County Arts HS website for
