“DISRUPTIVE INNOVATION” AND OUR PROFESSION
Brady Raanes, CFA, CFP®, CMT
The process of bringing new products and ideas to reality is called innovation. But disruptive innovation
takes it one step further. Disruptive innovation is when new products or services start out at the
bottom of the marketplace but end up displacing their competitors due to simplicity, convenience and
accessibility where high cost and complication are the status quo.

In 2018, Brady Raanes and his colleagues launched Domino, a podcast that
explains economic history in an entertaining way. Brady Raanes is tasked with
researching and organizing the content for Domino. As a veteran in the
financial services industry, Brady takes pride in making complicated stories
more understandable. His fascination with the inner workings of the economy
has led him to pursue a variety of industry designations and begin work on a book to be released in 2019. Forbes recently
recognized Brady as a 2018 Top Next-Gen Wealth Advisors. Brady and his wife, Christen, are co-founders of the non-profit
winery, (c) 3 Wines in Napa Valley. This business model stems from their own personal belief that real joy in life comes from
helping other people in their journey.

Welcome to NOLA - Let the good times roll! Join us as we kick things off with a reception and a live
and silent auction. We are pleased to welcome back Annette Myers as our auctioneer. You never
know what might happen with Annette in charge of her costume and her loosely prepared “script.” We
are sure a mask will be involved – hopefully no voodoo or gris-gris! Wear your favorite Mardi Gras
colors and grab some beads at the reception.
Show us your talent!
The auction will again feature hand-made items. It will be hard to top last year’s donations of quilts,
afghans, jewelry, hand-made purses and art but we have confidence in our members’ many talents!
Please donate to our auction benefitting NVRA’s legislative and member hardship funds. Not among
our craftiest members? Basket donations are also welcome.
