Help for Small Business Owners
The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) is a government agency that provides support to entrepreneurs and small businesses. Certifying your business with the SBA can give you leverage when competing on government contracts.
The SBA provides several programs and free resources to assist small businesses with positioning themselves to bid, win and maintain government contracts. There are also local procurement offices within most major cities called PTAC's (Procurement Technical Assistant Centers). The Procurement Technical Assistant program was established by DLA (Defense Logistics Agency) to expand the number of businesses capable of participating in government contracts. Under the program, PTAC's help businesses pursue and perform under contracts with the Department of Defense, other federal agencies , state and local governments and with government prime contractors.
