5.2 Goal 2: Reduce perinatal and environmentally related effects of maternal and/or paternal drug abuse on infants and children.
5.2.1 Objective 2.1: Decrease the misuse of prescription drugs, alcohol, illicit and other harmful drugs among 80% pregnant and postpartum women.
5.2.2 Objective 2.2: Involve families, partners of women, fathers of children and older children of women to participate in assisting enrolled clients’ substance treatment from a Family Systems perspective.
5.2.3 Objective 2.3: Improve parenting skills, family functioning, economic stability, and quality of life;
5.3 Goal 3: Decrease involvement in and exposure to crime, violence, and neglect; and decrease physical, emotional, and sexual abuse for all family members.
5.3.1 Objective 3: Conduct evidence-based practices (EBP), specifically Seeking Safety (SS), the Trauma Recovery and Empowerment Model (TREM), and Motivational Enhancement Therapy (MET) in English and Spanish.
5.4 Goal 4: Increase capacity of current delivery system to provide culturally competent and appropriate access to substance abuse, mental health, and perinatal care treatment to those at- risk in the community using Unpaid Peer Mentors.
5.4.1 Objective 4.1: Utilize Unpaid Peer Mentors to provide wraparound recovery support services to at-risk pregnant and postpartum women.
5.4.2 Objective 4.2: Utilize beneficial program outcomes and leverage SAMHSA start-up funds to sustain an on-going program for high need pregnant and postpartum women and their minor children.
