Bertha Persson had, in fact, on December 30th of that year, gotten married in Copenhagen to Axel Thomas Amatus Dreilick, the railway bookkeeper in Malmo, and was now known as Mrs. Bertha Dreilick, currently residing in Malmo and has been since Dec 11, 1886. At this time, Consul Friis was the sole owner of the property, ha- ving bought the shares of the remaining partners in the Barktnanska estate for a sum of 76,500 kronor on March 30, 1875 and receiving ownership on September 13th of that year. The Tunneln cellar, which got its name from the old elongated vaults, built its reputation from the beginning on providing "a good table" which the patrons placed great value on. Furthermore, prices for both food and drinks were kept very low. This made the restaurant popular and gained a wide customer base among the better classes, particularly the middle class. The restaurant operation therefore soon flourished. The first adver- tisements that appeared in the local newspapers about Tunneln were truthful, recommending itself in the following way:
"The Tunnels well-known restaurant at 40 Ostergatan recommends itself to the public's kindly memory with its good goods at excellent prices. Well-prepared food is served both on the menu and table d'hote. Or: Tunnel's comfortably appointed restaurant, at the corner of Ostergatan and Kansligatan. Entrance from Ostergatan, number 40. Table d'hote and à la carte service, good wines and spirits."
The cellar Tunneln, which for a short time from 1904 was called "Old Tunnel" in contrast to the cellar "New Tunnel", decorated from the beginning of the 1880s in Jorgen Kockska's house on Viistergatan, was owned after Mrs. Dreilick by the following people: Erik Lundqvist
