Breeders’ Cup Canadian Connections Results
The Game, November 2008 7 Saturday October 25:
TURF SPRINT
Storm Treasure (Woodbine-based runner trained by Steven Asmussen)  nished third, 1 1⁄2 lengths behind Desert Code.
JUVENILE
Square Eddie (Ontario-bred by Kinghaven Farms, Canadian-owned by J. Paul Reddam, native of Wind- sor, Ontario) battled back in the stretch and  nished second, 1 1⁄4 lengths behind Midshipman.
JUVENILE TURF
Grand Adventure (Canadian-owned by Sam-Son Farm (Milton, Ontario), trained by Mark Frostad of Toronto, Ontario)  nished 10th, about seven lengths behind the winner, Donativum.
Skipadate (trained by Mark Casse of Toronto)  n- ished 11th, about 7 3⁄4 lengths behind Donativum. Mark S the Cooler (Canadian-owned by J. Paul
Reddam, native of Windsor, Ontario) was an also- eligible and was scratched.
SPRINT
Fatal Bullet (owned by Bear Stables (Danny Dion) of Edmonton, Alberta, trained by Reade Baker of Toronto, ridden by Eurico Rosa da Silva of Toronto),  nished second, 1 3⁄4 lengths behind Midnight Lute.
TURF
Red Rocks (Canadian-owned by John P. Reddam, a native of Windsor, Ontario)  nished 10th, about 15 1⁄2 lengths behind Conduit.
Canadians were well represented at this year’s Breeders’ Cup World Championships at Oak Tree at Santa Anita with three horses coming close to taking home top prize.
Canada’s reigning Horse of the Year, Sealy Hill, owned by Melnyk Racing Stables, and trained by Woodbine based Mark Casse, after a strong stretch run through traf c,  nished a close second (by three- quarters of a length) to Forever Together in the BC Filly and Mare Turf on Friday, October 24.
The following day, the Kinghaven Farms, Ontario- bred, Square Eddie, owned by Paul Reddam, also made an impressive come-back in the stretch to  nish second by 1 1/4 lengths Midshipman in the BC Juvenile.
Fatal Bullet, owned by Danny Dion’s Bear Stables, trained by Reade Baker, overcame his outside post position by bursting out of the gate and taking the lead on the turn in the BC Sprint. He battled on impressively down the stretch and was overtaken in the last few strides by last year’s BC Sprint winner, Midnight Lute, who was coming off of a long break.

FILLY AND MARE TURF
Sealy Hill (Ontario-bred owned by Melnyk Racing Stables, trained by Mark Casse of Toronto)  nished SECOND at odds of 48-1, three-quarters of a length behind winner Forever Together.
LADIES CLASSIC
Bear Now (owned by Bear Stables (Danny Dion) of Edmonton, Alberta, trained by Reade Baker of Toronto, ridden by Eurico Rosa da Silva of Toronto)  nished eighth to Zenyatta at odds of 74-1.
Ginger Punch (Canadian owned by Stronach Stables (Frank Stronach) of Aurora, Ontario)  nished sixth to Zenyatta at odds of 10-1.

Woodbine Entertainment Group is now offering the Pick 6 as part of its Thoroughbred racing betting pro le, replac- ing the Pick 7.
The Pick 6, which asks fans to pick the winners of six consecutive races, is a minimum $2 wager and offers a “major/minor” payout.
If a fan, or fans, get 6 of 6 in the wager, 70% of the net Pick 6 pool and carryover will be paid out (major).
There will be a payout for winners of the next best of 6 as well. All with that ticket would share 30% of the net Pick 6 pool (minor).
If there are no winners of 6 of 6, 30% of the net Pick 6 pool will be paid out for those tickets with the next best of 6 and 70% of the net pool will be added to the carryover for the next day.
Tiago to stand at Adena Springs
Multiple Grade 1 winner Tiago will stand at Adena Springs Kentucky upon his retirement from racing.
Adena Springs owner Frank Stronach purchased a major- ity interest in the four-year-old Pleasant Tap colt from own- ers- breeders Jerry and Ann Moss.
Tiago won the 2007 Santa Anita Derby (G1) and Good- wood Stakes (G1) and  nished a close third in the Breeders’
Cup Classic (G1) on October 25 at Santa Anita Park.
Tiago is a half brother to 2005 Kentucky Derby (G1) winner Giacomo, who stands at Adena Springs.
