CACOGRAPHY – a bad writing.
CADAVER – a corpse; a person who has been dead
over a period of time.
CADAVER DOGS – are trained dogs, sensitive to the
odor of decomposing human remains that assist in
locating bodies buried in the ground or submerged
in water.
CADAVER TAG – an identification tag attached to the
cadaver containing tag number, name (if
identified), date/time and place of recovery,
date/time/type/place of incident, gender, other
pertinent information, and name of investigator.
CADAVERIC SPASM – the instantaneous tightening
of an extremity or other part of the body at the
time of death. Also called death grip.
CAFFEINE – a stimulant that acts on the central
nervous system to speed up the messages to and
from the brain. It is a substance found in the
leaves, seeds or fruit of a number of plant species,
such as coffee and tea plants.
CALAMITY – an event that brings terrible loss, lasting
distress, or severe affliction.
CALIBER – refers to the diameter of a bullet;
somewhat larger than the bore of the weapon from
which the bullet is fired.
