The Copper State
The summer of 19’ was surely a great time with a lot of good memories and amazing experiences that
really stayed with me. One of which were the trip me and my family took to the United States. We went
around and explored around California and Las Vegas, but the most memorable journey was in Arizona
state also known to many as “The Copper State” regarding the infamous Grand Canyon.
It was a nice Sunday morning and our family had planned to take a long trip to see the Grand Canyon
with our own eyes. We set out in the rental car with snacks and a destination to fulfill. As we drove
endless exhausting hours up and around the narrow and wide roads of Arizona, my brother and I played
word games to let time fly by. Out the car window, there were many fascinating sights to find that had me
dazed as I gazed at the beautiful mountains. It was afternoon by the time we got lost on the road owing
the fact that our GPS device stopped connecting to service. I felt a sudden cold sweat trickle down my
back, and my breathing became heavy. We were lost on a random road with nothing but miles and miles
of road ahead of us in a strange new place, so it was certain that we would be concerned. Inching
forwards, we found a small shack appear in sight and a rusty old sign that read “Bucky’s store”. When we
enter the strange shop, it turned out to be a nifty little store with many intriguing souvenirs and snacks.
After what seemed like forever, we got service and we got back on the road with cherry flavored trails on
my lips from the cherry sodas I had enjoyed earlier.
Arriving at the Grand Canyon was all blissful and there were beautiful rays of enchanting orange hues all
around the valley. The canyon was an enormous deep ravine that has ben cut into the earth’s surface by
erosion by a running river. The Colorado river looked ever so enticing as it cut through the valley picking
up golden bronze light it almost looked like molten copper flowing between the hills. The view was
breathtaking and gazing at the captivating orange rusty hills had me in a state of relief and peaceful bliss.
The birds dived up and down the canyon and soared into the sky was something straight out of a fairy
tale. Seeing one of the universe’s most dazzling raw natures at this time felt overwhelming and left me in
a loss for words.
Overall, this kind of experience is truly one of a kind and really makes you grateful for the opportunities in
life and all the beauty within. This will forever be one of the most memorable adventures of my lifetime
with not only the destination but all the memories I made along in the journey.
