the Japanese language for the people in all these homes. He
would also have to pay for food and the things the Japanese
Bible college students would need to walk to all these places.
That would probably cost about $100,000.
Charles began to get excited about how they would reach
these villages. He calculated it would take six months for two
missionaries and ten Japanese Christian workers to visit every
home in one province. Now, all the workers began to get
excited about telling every person about Jesus. With the plans
made, they began to pray!
They called this project the Great Village Campaign. Some
people thought it was impossible. But the team believed God
could make it happen. The students would have to hike through
snow-covered mountains, walk through road blockages and
talk with idol worshipers. “Yes, we will do it!” they said.
But, where would they get the money? The mission had
only five dollars in the bank. Even though there was almost no
money to pay the workers and buy the Bibles, they began
