PASSION
HOW WILL WE COACH FOR SUCCESS?
COACHING PHILOSOPHY
THE APPROACH
1) Coach Positively - Build confidence, look for the signs of improvement; Reinforce these identified
strengths.
2) Build Trust - This must be a natural process and its progress will depend on the needs of the student-
athlete. There is no perfect formula when attempting to obtain a teenager’s trust. Some will be more
willing to trust the coach more than others. Coaching for consistency and perfection across all players will
help foster a trusting environment.
3) Staff Unity - Coaches will actively engage in positive communication at all times when student athletes
are present. Athletes should not be privy to displays of frustration and anger between members of the
basketball staff. We will show the true meaning of teamwork through our interactions with each other.
Coaches are encouraged to involve their families, when appropriate, in team functions and activities.
4) Citizenship - Our staff will be actively involved in the development of our school and community. We will
represent our student-athletes and colleagues in a manner that will reflect our program’s mission.
5) Build on Established Strengths - We will not re-invent the wheel where the tread is sufficient. We respect
the foundation that has been established and will look for ways to continuously improve its infrastructure
for stability and long term success.
6) Innovative - NEVER STOP LEARNING. Our program will not only be progressive schematically; We will
always look for cutting edge improvements in the way we train, educate, and communicate with our
athletes.
