21.1.3.2 Nonexpendable MCM vehicles
The K2 family of “nonexpendable” vehicles (Figure 21.11), like the expendable MCM ROVs above, is a fiber-optic or copper-guided ROV that can be used for the SCM or RIN missions. The vehicle is either surface powered or can be battery operated. The vehicle, with a sensor and navigation package, is flown into the minefield, where it identifies/classifies the target and subjects the target to repeated projectiles until the target has been neutralized. Once the target has been assessed as neutralized, the vehicle proceeds to the next target.
