2.3.2 Senior High School Curriculum
The OBMC Professional Senior High School Curriculum follows the General Academic Strand (GAS) under the Academic Track. It integrates key subjects from the different strands of Business, Accountancy, and Management (BAM); Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM); Humanities and Social Science (HUMSS); and Technical Vocational Livelihood, Sports, Arts, and Design. The key subjects added are Basic Calculus, General Biology, General Physics, General Chemistry, Entrepreneurship, Social Anthropology, and others. This strand will allow the students more flexibility in exploring career options as they move up to tertiary level.
The Senior High School Curriculum is divided into the core subjects, applied subjects, and specialized subjects:
Core Subjects
English 1 (Reading and Writing) develops the students’ critical reading and thinking skills and provides opportunities for them to practice writing for academic and professional purposes. Note on Prerequisite(s): None
English 2 (Speech Communication) improves the students’ communicative competence and public speaking skills through functional and practical activities that seek to enhance the art of speaking by building on their listening, writing, and reading skills. Note on Prerequisite(s): None
Filipino 1 (Komunikasyon at Pananaliksik sa Wika at Kulturang Pilipino) ay nakatuon sa pag-aaral sa pananaliksik ukol sa kalikasan, katangian, pag-unlad, gamit at paggamit ng Wikang Filipino sa mga sitwasyong komunikatibo at kultural sa lipunang Pilipino. Note on Prerequisite(s): None
Filipino 2 (Pagbasa at Pagsusuri sa Pananaliksik) ay nakatuon sa pagsusuri ng mga tekstong pampanitikan at pelikula sa konteksto ng lipunan. Binibigyang-halaga rin nito ang pagbuo ng mga akdang nasa modernong anyo na nakaugat sa samu’t saring aspeto ng kulturang popular. Note on Prerequisite(s): None
