Social Science 1 (Personal Development) raises the student’s awareness of themselves and their developmental stage as they engage in dutiful decision-making and career planning. It intends to help students adjust to their new environment as they have transitioned to Senior High School by improving their study skills. Using the concepts and insights from psychology, this course makes use of different engaging activities to develop the student’s academic and critical thinking skills. Moreover, this course enhances the student’s ability to contemplate and reflect on their personal lives with respect to history and society. Note on Prerequisite(s): None
Social Science 2 (Understanding Culture, Society, and Politics) introduces the students to Philippine culture, society, and politics from the social sciences of anthropology, sociology, and political science. It is designed to help students become more critically aware of developing Philippine issues. The course intends to facilitate the students’ critical engagements with the concept of being and becoming Filipino in a global age. Note on Prerequisite(s): Social Science 2 and Philosophy 1 are prerequisites to Social Science 5.
