 Creating an assessment plan
Effective assessment starts with a comprehensive plan for assessment—who, why, what, where and when must all be considered Each of the six rubrics must be the subject of a care- ful analysis leading to the production of an assessment plan For example, in relation to the oral presentation that values 10 marks (twice as much as the Reflection):
• Who will be present in the room when the presentation is being delivered?
Will other students be in the room and if so, will these students gain an unfair advantage by listening to their peers present and to the comments (if any) from the assessor(s)?
• What tools are required to accurately and efficiently inspect (and record aspects of) the evidence presented? Will a digital recording device be used—audio or video?
• Why is it necessary to have a panel of assessors?
• Where is the most ideal venue for the presentations to be assessed?
• When should the assessments happen within the sequence of activities? Should it be
the last activity? What time of day is ideal for presentations?
These are just a few of the questions that you should consider The responses should be taken into account in a manner that will ensure that the set of scores awarded represent a fair and reliable estimate of the candidate’s level of achievement
