THE 1920s
Above: Under pressure from Air Marshal Trenchard, the Air Ministry decided in 1919 to establish a Royal Air Force College on the lines of Sandhurst and Dartmouth, for the purpose of training officers for permanent service. The College was inaugurated on 5th February 1920, when the first entry of 52 cadets arrived, 17 of them coming from the Royal Naval College at Dartmouth.
