Lesson 30
The animal in the photo is a hedgehog and this
creature was visiting my garden recently. The main
characteristic of the hedgehog is the large number of
spikes on its body. When it is subjected to attack it
rolls up into a ball and the spikes do offer it some
protection.
However there is a significant loss of hedgehogs on
the road, and they get run over by cars all too often.
They tend to be nocturnal creatures and it is very
difficult for motorists to see them and consequently
they get run over on the roads.
