Ventricular Tachycardia
VT is a rhythm where the heart is pumping fast and in some instances may not provide an adequate circulation resulting in hypoxia (Often called pulseless VT). VT is a shockable rhythm. If it is identified the defibrillator will advise a shock be given to the casualty.
How to use a Defibrillator
Prepare the casualty for defibrillation by removing clothing over the upper torso. If the casualty is wet you will need to dry the areas where the pads are to be attached. If the casualty is excessively hairy then you will need to shave the area where you will attach the pads to ensure you can achieve an effective connection with the skin.
When two rescuers are available one operator should carry out the Defibrillation process whilst the other provides CPR. At two minute intervals the two rescuers should swap positions to maintain effective compressions.
