Handover to Medical Personnel
It is critical that you continue to deliver CPR until Emergency Services Personnel or Paramedics have advised that they are ready to take over.
From there, it is important to provide a thorough and succinct handover as follows:
• Date, time and location of incident
• Name, DOB and Address
• Next of Kin’s name and contact number
• Details of a Sample History (See Sample History)
• Observations/vital signs details (pulse, breathing rate,
pupil size)
• First Aiders name and contact number
At all times if the casualty is conscious be aware of what they are hearing, seeing and experiencing. Keep the casualty calm, assured and informed of what is happening, seeking consent where required. You may also wish to introduce them to any third parties who are engaging in their care.
