Principles of primary health care:

1. Accessibility: Health care

services should be equally

accessible to all.

2. Community participation: It

is the process by which

individuals and families

assume responsibility for their

health

and welfare and to develop the capacity to contribute to their

community's development. The community can participate in

planning, implementation and management of health services.

3. Emphasis on the prevention: The focus of care should be on

prevention rather than on cure.

4. Use appropriate technology: Methods, procedures, techniques and

equipment should be scientifically valid, adapted to local needs and

acceptable to users and to those for whom they are used
