Greetings!
By connecting existing regional innovation basepoints that are geographically adjacent to each other,
the South Korean government has designated them as 14 National Innovation Convergence Complexes
in 14 metropolitan cities and provinces (except the capital area) in a bid to develop them into new regional
growth bases for nurturing new industries and promoting investment. In Gyeongsangbuk-do Province,
Gimcheon Innovation City and the Gumi area have been designated as National Innovation Convergence
Complexes. A large budget will be intensively invested in these cities’ innovation projects
by 2026 over 3 steps (9 years).
By selecting e-mobility-centered electric cars as the major industry of the Gyeongbuk National Innovation
Convergence Complex, we plan to induce and support the conversion from the existing internal combustion
engine parts industry to the electric car parts industry. We plan to create a new growth engine,
and have categorized it into 3 steps for its phased development.
Established in August 1998, Gyeongbuk TechnoPark has accumulated a wealth of know-how as a corporate
support base over the last 21 years. Based on the participation of Gyeongsangbuk-do, 23 cities and
counties, and local universities, Gyeongbuk TechnoPark has constantly strived to build a technological
innovation base to which industry-academia-research-institution contribute, with the aim of promoting
industrial growth. As a result, Gyeongbuk TechnoPark is becoming one of the most excellent and exemplary
Technoparks in South Korea.
To enhance the substantial and tangible performance of the National Innovation Cluster Project, the Korean
government has formed an innovation cluster promotion group at Gyeongbuk TechnoPark to promote
its comprehensive corporate support service.
Gyeongbuk TechnoPark will sincerely perform its role as a middleman that helps local companies to become
tech-sawy and respond actively to changes in the global industrial environment in this era of the Fourth
Industrial Revolution.
Thank you very much.
Jaehoon Rhee, President of GyeongbukTechnoPark
