On 12 May 2022, Dr James Fox, Senior Lecturer from Institute for Catalysis and
Energy Sustainability (ICES) discuses his Waste to Energy research on eNCA
news channel. From a carbon emissions point of view, “for every ton of coal used
in energy production, half a ton of carbon dioxide is emitted. Waste plastic does
better and emits less than that,” said Dr Fox.

Prof Oghenetega Ighedo to serve as an Invited speaker at BLAST
2022 International conference. Her research journey was
covered by the Briey newspaper.

(USEC) team featured on SABC news for
their Robotics and Science showcase at
the World Science Forum in Cape Town,
ICC from 5 – 9 December 2022. Tumelo
Nhlapo from the USEC, also had a
chance to explain the use Robotics and
Science in addressing the energy crises to
President Cyril Ramaphosa who visited
their stall,, at the World Science Forum.
