Insurers to continue No Claim Bonus
HDFC Ergo and ICICI Lombard, is offering to continue to offer the no claim bonus (NCB) even if any Covid-related claim
has been made by a policyholder.
Cumulative bonus, or NCB, in a health policy is a reward given to policyholders for staying healthy and not making any
claimon his/her policy in a year. The reward is in the form of an increase in the sum insured without any jump in the
premium amount.
Normally, if a policyholder renews a health policy without a break and has made no claim during the year, then the
next year, the insurer increases the sum insured (SI) by a certain percentage up to a maximum limit. For instance, you
can have a policy for Rs. 10 lakh with an NCB of 10 per cent every year. If no claims are made for three years, then
your SI will be Rs. 13 lakh (Rs. 3 lakh as the NCB).
