What is Unstructured Data?

Unstructured data is made up of such things as
video, emails, photos, presentations, audio files, and
web pages. It either does not have a pre-defined
data model or is not organized in a pre-defined
manner, as opposed to structured data, which is
organized into blocks and ideal for database
applications, such as SAP, Oracle, and SQL.

New trends are creating new types and sources of
data – especially unstructured data, which includes
file and object data that doesn’t fit easily into
traditional relational database structures.
What’s more, unstructured data is growing at a
phenomenal rate. Did you know that 80% of data
growth is projected to be unstructured data?
