           7.  MATTERS ARISING FROM THESE MINUTES


                 7.1  Free roaming pigs – Eastern Cape                                      Dr P Evans
                       SAPPO must talk to the traditional leaders in the various areas in an
                       attempt to find a solution to the risk posed by feral pigs.

                       Dr Peter Evans confirmed that the problem posed by free-roaming
                       pigs would will remain and it should be accepted.


                 7.2  Consumer Assurance (Airport)                                             Dr P Evans
                       Negotiations must take place with SARS through AMIE for SAPPO to
                       visit warehouse where shipments were unpacked

                       Dr  Peter  Evans  had discussions  with the relevant  people who
                       confirmed that no pork was served on international airlines due to
                       moslems on the flights.


                 7.3  Woolworths                                                                  J Kotzé
                       A meeting was held with Woolworths where the following matters
                       were raised:
                       -  SAPPO’s concern that Woolworths was in a bio-security high risk
                          area promoting free range pigs;
                       -  Pork360 was not a brand but a farming assruance to advance
                          food safety;
                       -  They want to liaise with SAPPO on food safety;
                       -  Woolworth representatives visited Stephen Butt’s farm previously;

                       More future discussions will take place with Woolworths as it was a
                       premium market although very small.
