Summary

During the fourth year of the Profesorado en Biologia, we carry out a socio-educative
and community Project for the subject “Educative Project”. The one we are presenting here is
called “Medicinal plants. Interchange and conservation of knowledge and resources: A
dynamic proposal for the Young people of the Juventud Agraria Cooperativista de
Montecarlo, Misiones. This work came up after having done a participative diagnosis in
which we inquired about the topics of major interest for them, taking into account the history
of their cooperative and the meaning of it in the community of Montecarlo and in their own
families, all this was done through participative observation, surveys and workshops.

The objectives proposed were in the first place to recognize and identify scientifically
medicinal plants, their active principle, properties and the way of uses more used by the youth
of the Juventud Agraria Cooperativista de Montecarlo; apart from generating an space for the
expression and valuation of ideas, showing respect for the scientific knowledge and
promoting a critical thought with respect to their own attitudes. At the same time, healthy
behaviour was promoted creating risky conscience, strengthening life skills for the
development and adaptation of the individual in its environment.

The methodology used was participative, with the implementation of theoretical-
practical workshops and meetings outdoors, in which topics like: medicinal plants, their
identification, collection, drying, conservation and preparation, the concept of active principle
and the utilities of the medicinal plants since ancient civilizations up to the present time, as
well as the specific use of them in the destination group, were worked. Also, with the
participation, the commitment and the cooperation among the participants, medicinal
herbariums and technical files were made (in groups) which were then taken by the
beneficiaries to share with their families, These materials serve to socialize what have been
done by the youth and at the same time they act as multiplier agents of the contents worked in
                  the Project.
